The European Creative Academy and the Peter Eötvös Foundation in cooperation with Ars Nova Ensemble are announcing a workshop for composers and conductors. This workshop is part of the foundation's mentoring program. Application should be made online via the provided links on the page of European Creative Academy.

Age limit

If you want to be considered also for 2023 Mentoring Program of the Peter Eötvös Foundation, age limit is under 35.

Fee

Registration and tuition fees are fully covered by ECA for all participants.

Lodging costs are fully covered by ECA for all participants.

Travel costs are the cost of participants.

Application deadline

The results will be announced no later than the 2nd week of May 2022.

4 new works by selected composers for the 2022 edition

- Masterclass with Gregory Vajda and Peter Eötvös on selected repertoire

- Working with ensemble Ars Nova, an outstanding French music ensemble recognized for its commitment to new music and educational transmission

- Working with young composers selected for this edition of ECA and conducting their new works

- Public concert at the end of the workshop

Selected conductors have to prepare all the scores, must attend all masterclasses and rehearsals and will conduct ensemble Ars Nova during the final concert on Saturday, August 20, 2022.

The new works written by the selected composers will be sent to the selected conductors between middle July and the beginning of August 2022.

In the application form young conductors have to upload 2 video recordings, preferably rehearsals but concerts will also be accepted.

Program for composers

The 2022 edition offers young composers the following opportunities:

- Workshopping a 5 to 7 minutes piece for an ensemble of up to 11 instruments specially written for this summer academy and for the musicians of Ensemble Ars Nova (see instrumentation proposed in the form)

→ The piece must be a new work written especially for this summer academy.

→ Please indicate your choice of instrumentation in the form. The jury will try to respect them.

- Asking and experimenting with experienced musicians.

- Testing existing sketches and/or ideas with musicians of choice.

- Masterclass and private lessons with Stefano Gervasoni

- Working with young conductors selected for this edition of ECA, under the supervision of Gregory Vajda and Peter Eötvös

- Public concert at the end of the Academy

- All candidates must choose 3 instrumentations that the jury will try to respect.

- Score and Parts must be ready by July 15, 2022 to ensure that the conductors and musicians have sufficient preparation time.

- Composers must attend all masterclasses and rehearsals.

- Composers will be entitled to professional development workshops during the academy that focus on career development and other aspects of what the job entails.

- All compositions will be performed in a final concert on Saturday August 20, 2022

This workshop qualifies as an audition for the 2023 Mentoring Program of the Peter Eötvös Foundation.
